
Catherine Sledziewska
Economist, Head of the Department of Digital Economics at the Faculty of Economic Sciences, University of Warsaw, and Managing Director of DELab UW (a Center of Excellence within the IDUB program). She specializes in the digital economy and the impact of technology—particularly artificial intelligence—on the functioning of businesses, the public sector, international trade, and the labor market.
She has conducted numerous national and international research projects funded by programs such as Horizon, Digital, Erasmus+, the National Science Centre, and the National Bank of Poland. Her research focuses on the digitization of companies and public institutions, datafication processes, and the consequences of automation and AI for employment, competencies, and work organization. She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications, including the following books: International Trade 4.0: Determinants of Economic Cooperation in the Age of AI (Scholar 2025), Digital Economy: How New Technologies Are Changing the World (WUW 2020) and The Economics of Digital Transformation (Routledge 2021). He co-authors numerous reports and expert opinions for ministries, cities, financial institutions, and technology companies, which are used in designing digital strategies and public policies.
For many years, she has combined her research with practical collaboration with businesses. She has worked on projects assessing the digital maturity of manufacturing and service companies, researching the impact of automation on employees, and analyzing organizations' readiness to implement Industry 4.0 and AI solutions. As part of the European Digital Innovation Hub, she supports SMEs in translating general narratives about digital transformation into concrete investment decisions, process mapping, competency development, and measurable business outcomes.
As an expert, she is invited to program councils and advisory bodies (including the Council of the Polish Economic Institute), and regularly speaks at economic and industry congresses – commenting on the impact of digitization and AI on business models, the labor market, regulations, and the competitiveness of companies.
Professor Śledziewska is also a certified Transforming Communication™ and Resolve Coaching™ trainer, an ICL coach, and a Certified NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner (IANLP, IN). She holds an MBA and numerous advanced training courses in coaching and teamwork. In her work with enterprises, she leverages these competencies to design change processes, work with management boards and leaders, and conduct strategic and development workshops. She supports companies in building coherent digital strategies, preparing teams for AI, developing managerial competencies, and creating an environment conducive to innovation and data-driven decision-making.
